THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God’s love and comfort surround me always.
PRAYER FOCUS
People dreading the start of the day
KEY VERSE: The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. – Psalm 32:10 (NIV)
MESSAGE: Every morning, I pull on my fluffy, blue robe to keep me warm as I make coffee and settle in for my morning prayers and Bible reading. After finishing my morning routine, I used to hang up my robe with a sigh, already looking forward to wearing it the next day.
Then one morning, I read Psalm 32:10. The word surround jumped out at me. I closed my eyes and imagined God’s love surrounding me. I pictured a soft, warm light covering me from head to toe. I experienced a deep sense of peace and contentment. And when I hung up my robe that morning, I didn’t feel the familiar sadness at leaving my source of comfort behind. I had God’s unfailing love surrounding me — a comforting presence that would never leave me.
Now every morning as I put on my robe, its temporary comfort reminds me of God’s eternal love. And when I put my robe away, I remember that I’ll carry God’s love with me all day. When I feel anxious or sad, I visualize God’s love covering me, and I relax into God’s comforting holy presence. What a blessing to know that God’s love surrounds us always!
TODAY’S PRAYER
Comforting God, thank you for your eternal, unchanging love that is with us always. Remind us to turn to you for the comfort and peace we crave. Amen.
