TOPIC: Blessings of Fearing God
KEY VERSE: “There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9
TEXT: GENESIS 39:5-9
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Joseph was a child who feared God. At a young age, Joseph was forcefully taken away from the love and care of his parents. This injustice to him by his brothers was not enough to make him become wayward and disobedient to God. Rather, Joseph who learnt the fear of God from his parents continued to love and serve God through his words and actions.
Being far away from home is not an excuse to throw away your godly heritage. As you learn to fear God by obeying His word, daily read and meditate on it. You can also make it a regular habit to memorize portions of the Bible. Let the word of God take root in your heart. Live by its instructions and let it be your lifestyle. When you leave home for boarding school or vacation, maintain your love and obedience to God’s word. This is the path to God’s bountiful blessings. God promoted Joseph and he became a governor in a strange land. Like Joseph, you must be Just, Obedient, Saved from sin, Exemplary in behaviour, Prayerful and Holy in your thoughts and actions. In this way, God will promote and bless you too.
PRAYER: Lord God, make me another Joseph that will show forth Your glory in my generation.
