TOPIC: LAMENTATION OF ELIJAH

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Kgs. 19:4: “…It is enough, now O Lord, take away my life, for I am not better than my fathers”.

TODAY’S READING: 1 Kings19:1-4

1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

MESSAGE: Have you noticed a trend in your dream life recently? Are you concerned that each time you embarked  on a project, you would have a dream whereby you find yourself in the village among your local folks? After such disappointing dreams, the project may begin to suffer reverse fortunes until it is abandoned.

Prophet Elijah had a successful crusade on Mt. Carmel. Jezebel rose against him and he ran for his life. As he sat under the juniper tree in frustration, he had a dream. He saw his great grandfathers running into caves, hiding from the Medianites (Jdgs. 6:1-2). When he woke up, he remembered the curse predicted by Moses in Deuteronomy chapter 28, he rose and headed toward Mt. Horeb.

The problem of Elijah was not his making. It was a carryover from his fathers. Unless a child is totally a bastard, he would certainly inherit something from his father. Some fathers left behind idols. These idols you are often told were the saviours of the family; they saved you from death at infancy. You must appease them through sacrifice else they get angry. These idols are the ones that always drag you to the family compound each time something good is coming your way. Distance is no barrier once they are determined.

Inherited problems from family idols are responsible for unending cycles of poverty in the family. They make people rise and fall. Of course, you are better than your fathers. You are in Christ Jesus. You are an overcomer.

You can rise above inherited problems. Do not compromise your faith like Ahab in the days of Elijah. Separate from festivals and traditional things dedicated to idols. Refuse traditional titles. There is more to these things than your naked eyes can see. In Christ, you are better than your ancestors, he has laid a new foundation for you and your children.

PROPHETIC COMMAND (MORNING & NIGHT)
Worship! Praise!! Thanksgiving!!!

1.Thank You, Lord, for giving me a new foundation and heritage.
2.Blood of Jesus, wash away the idolatry heritage of my fathers, in Jesus’ name.
3.Every power, promoting unending cycles of up and down in my life, die by fire, in Jesus’ name.
4.My divine beautiful heritage,  locate me by fire, in Jesus’ name.

5.My heavenly portion, manifest in my life now, in Jesus’ name.
6.Satanic goods purchased by my fathers, now tormenting my family, I disown you, in the name of Jesus.
7.Odours of Satanic perfume from family altars upon my life, be washed away by the blood of Jesus.

8.Family trees, bearing the fruit of non-achievement, be uprooted by fire, in Jesus’ name.
9.I am better than my fathers, in Jesus’ name.
10.O Lord, show me the way to a better life, in Jesus’ name
