Joel Osteen Devotional 14 January 2024 – Today’s Word with Joel & Victoria Osteen. Read Sunday Daily Devotional Message by Joel Osteen.

Topic: A Change of Heart

Today’s Scripture

1 Samuel 10:9, NIV

As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day.

Today’s Word

In 1 Samuel 9, the prophet Samuel came to a young man named Saul and said that God had appointed him to be the first king of Israel. Rather than feel honored and excited, Saul was immediately afraid and intimidated. He told Samuel, “I come from the smallest tribe in Israel, and my family is the tribe’s least important family. I don’t have what it takes.” But Samuel was so certain of what God told him that he anointed Saul anyway, and as Saul turned to leave, God changed his heart.

One moment Saul didn’t want to do it, the next moment he did. What happened? God put the desire in him. You may feel something is too big for you, that you’re not talented enough, but God is not going to let you miss your purpose. You may not want to do His will at first, but when God puts new desires in you, there will be a passion, a grace, the favor to do what He calls you to do. He will give you the power to do what pleases Him.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for Your calling upon my life and that You have the power to change the desires of my heart and enable me to do what I cannot do on my own. Thank You that You match my desires to fulfill Your purpose. I declare that my one desire is to live in a way pleasing to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

About Joel Osteen
Raised in Houston, Texas, with a loving family of seven and world-renowned parents in full-time ministry, Joel Osteen never imagined that he would follow so closely in his father’s footsteps. As a young man, his training and interests were behind the scenes in television production, though he was close to his father in ministry.

“There’s no greater feeling than being able to help people rise higher and overcome something and feel better about themselves. I think that we’re all made to help others, to lift people UP.”- JOEL OSTEEN

His father always encouraged him to preach, but Joel would politely decline time and time again until one day in October 1999 when his father was admitted to the hospital with kidney complications. Joel finally agreed to preach the next Sunday, and his father passed the following week. Joel’s first sermon was the last his father ever heard. Joel and his wife, Victoria, were suddenly thrust into full-time leadership of Lakewood Church.
