Scripture Union Daily Guide 10 September 2020 Today’s Message

This was a call for the Levites, who were the servants of the Lord (i.e. workers in the Lord’s house), to collectively worship and adore the Lord. Those on night duty are particularly called upon to do this. Our God is worthy to be praised and adored. Therefore, this psalm also serves as a call for us, Christians, who are the Lord’s servants, irrespective of our vocation, to do the same. It is a call to bless the name of the Lord continually. As we lift our hands to God, may we do so with humble hearts before him! This brief but powerful Psalm is in two parts ─ (a) the call for God’s servants to “bless” the Lord with our worship and adoration (vv.1–2), and (b) the Levites in return bless the people with the blessing which comes from ‘the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth’ (v.3). Our God is the Creator of the universe; He is all powerful. How wonderful that he blesses us and that we can always turn to him for help (Psalm 121:2).
