Memorise: Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? 1st Samuel 10:1
Read: 1st Samuel 9:15-10:1(KJV)

15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
16 To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.
18 Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer’s house is.
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.

20 And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father’s house?
21 And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?
22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.
23 And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.

25 And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.
26 And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
27 And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on), but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.
10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

Message:Open Heavens 3 August 2018 by Pastor Adeboye
The ways of our God are unsearchable and beyond human comprehension (Romans 11:33). You need to understand this if you will not miss out on the good things the Lord has in store for His children. Open Heaven 3 August 2018 Divine Set-Up

Using natural methods to search out or predict the plans of God is not just counterproductive, it also leads to frustration. This is why Romans 8:5-6 says:

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. for to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Anyone who tries to box God into a pattern will definitely miss His visitation when it happens. In Genesis 18:1-16, when the guests from heaven seemed to be passing by Abraham’s tent, little did he know it was a divine set-up for him to be blessed. Thanks be to God that Abraham did not miss his blessing. His gesture of hospitality brought to fulfilment God’s promise which he had waited on for so many years. When the Lord ask you to do something unusual, He is only setting you up for an unusual miracle. In Joshua chapter 2, the visit of the two spies to Rehab was a divine set-up to make her an agent of salvation for her entire household. My prayer is that the grace to do the unusual that will bring the type of miracle nobody has ever experienced before will be given to you today in Jesus’ Name. Do you know that God’s commandments on paying of tithes, offerings and first fruits are nothing but divine set-ups for superabundant blessings? When you get a taste of this, you will testify that the Lord is good indeed.

Today’s Bible reading narrates the story of a divine arrangement in favour of the first king of Israel, Saul. God wanted to anoint him king over Israel, so He caused his father’s donkeys to go missing. This made Saul go searching all over for them, till he got to Samuel the king-maker. Before Saul’s arrival at the place where Samuel was, the Lord had spoken to Samuel about his visit and instructed him to anoint Saul king over Israel. Meanwhile, unknown to Saul, while he and his servant wandered around by divine set-up, the missing donkeys were already found.

I pray for you today that the Lord will divinely set you up for promotion and breakthrough in life in Jesus’ Name. Where we cannot see a single way, God can see uncountable ways for carrying out His agenda. When the Lord was leading me to the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1973 in search of peace in my life and home, little did I know it was for the purpose of fulfilling His own agenda for my life. If I had any hint then that I would become a pastor, maybe I would have sought spiritual help somewhere else, where I would not be considered for pastoral work. The Lord’s ways are indeed unsearchable!

Prayer Point: Open Heavens 3 August 2018
Father, please cause me to be sensitive to Your set-up for unusual breakthrough in my life, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Who’s The Waiter?

Memorise: Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured. – Proverbs 27:18

Read: Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 65-66, 2 Thessalonians 1

Teens Open Heavens 18 October 2018 MESSAGE:

Although prayer cannot change God, it can however change weakness to strength. Our Bible reading for today says that there is an exchange of strength when you wait on the Lord in prayer. This means whenever you access God’s presence, go with all your weaknesses and failings. Go in as an empty vessel that is ready to be filled.

Never enter His presence with the notion that you have it all, that you have arrived or that you do not really need Him. You may lose what you think you have and return empty. When you wait on the Lord, you are to the waiter and He your Guest. Serve Him only what He likes and not what you like. Unfortunately, because many of us do not understand what it is to wait on Him, we turn Him into the waiter and we the guest; we bombard Him with orders. From today, go into God’s presence and be the waiter.

Key Point: When you genuinely wait on God, men will wait on you.

Teens Open Heavens 18 October 2018 Hymn 16:

1. Christian, seek not yet repose
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

2. Principalities and power
Mustering their unseen array
Wait for the unguarded hours:
Watch and pray

3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou loves to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

6. Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.

Topic: A Son Indeed?

Memorise: But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Hebrews 12:8

Bible Reading: Hebrew 12:4-11(KJV)

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Open Heavens 18 October 2018 Daily Devotional – A Son Indeed?
11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Bible in one year: Jeremiah 5-6 Luke 8:4-2, Hymnals sing hymns 2

Open Heavens 18 October 2018 Daily Devotional Message:
Discipline is the act of training a person to obey rules and follow instructions, which sometimes involves corrective punishment for wrongdoing.

The bible clearly establish that God expect parents to discipline their children (Proverbs 23:13-14, Ephesians 6:4) Parents who failed in this responsibility suffered great consequences, as seen in the example of Eli (1st Samuel 2:27-34).

Being a just God, he cannot require discipline from earthly parents and fail in his responsibility to discipline his own children, as the Heavenly Father. All act of disciplining God’s children ultimately come from God, and the methods used are determined by Him.

However, His motive is always love, while His goals remain making us partakers of His holiness (Hebrew 12:10). God discipline His children as part of His covenant with them. Consequently, only disciplined children of God has access to His covenant blessings. Job 36:10-11 says:

‘’He openeth also there ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity if they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and there years in pleasures.’’

Interestingly, God in his infinity wisdom has set discipline as the number one criteria ascertaining true children of God. Hebrew 12:8 says

‘’But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.’’

Consequently, if you notice that you are getting away with sin and immorality without any type of warning or discipline of God, then you can be sure that heaven does not recognize you as a true child of God.

As soon as a person accepts Lordship of Jesus Christ, he or she become a genuine member of God’s family, and the love of God will immediately kick-start the process of discipline in order to bring the new convert to perfection in due time. May you always cooperate with God for the purpose of receiving proper discipline in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 18 October 2018 Daily Devotional – A Son Indeed?

Open Heavens 18 October 2018 Sing Hymn 2 – WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
Verse 1:
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Verse 2:
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Verse 3:
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Topic: Ready-Made Provision or Trap?

Memorise: There is a why which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverb 14:12

Open Heavens 17 October 2018 Bible Reading: Proverbs 7:6-23 (KJV)

6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

Open Heavens 17 October 2018 Bible in one year: Jeremiah 3-4 Luke 7:36-8:3, Hymn sing hymn 5

Open Heavens 17 October 2018 Daily Devotional Message:

In these perilous times, life is so full of struggles and hard labour that do not always result in success.

All around the world, people invest precious time and money into obtaining high school and college education, only to graduate and discover that jobs are nonexistent.

In some cases, people invest years into specialized training in various crafts and trades, only to graduate and begin to source for financial backing and start-up capital without success.

There are some who manage to gain employment with private companies or who succeed in starting small scale businesses, but some years down the line, they find themselves back in the labour market due to harsh economic realities.

These hardships have made the availability of ready-made provision very attractive to the average person, especially in developing countries like we have in Africa. Click To Read – Open Heaven 16 October 2018

The dire economic situation in different parts of the world has led some Christians to wrongly assume that every opportunity that comes their way is Gods providence, not realizing their error until contrary events begin to happen to them in the process of exploiting these ‘’opportunities’’.

I pray that no matter the prevailing conditions in your community, the Lord will divinely open doors of genuine opportunities to you in Jesus’ name.

In Africa and several developing countries, the difficult political and economic situation couple with security challenges has led a lot of people, especially youths, into traps that initially appeared like ready-made provision.

Open Heavens 17 October 2018 Daily Devotional – Ready-Made Provision or Trap?
These traps could come in form of employment with very attractive pay packages,’ juicy marriage offers,’ fantastic’ business opportunities or even invitations to travel abroad.

Hidden behind these seemingly great offers are terrible vices like prostitution, drug trafficking, criminal syndicates, fraud, occultism and the like. For example, many young people have honored invitations to travel abroad only to get get trapped in sex trafficking or being used as drug couriers.

Some people have entered neck deep into what they thought was an ordinary business relationship, only for them to later discover that they have been initiated into powerful occult groups.

Many vulnerable youths are enticed into armed gangs which eventually result in untimely death for so many. As seen in today’s bible reading, you must recognize that the devil’s ready –made provisions are nothing but deadly traps.

God has assured you that He will provide for all your needs and settle all your problems (Hebrew 13:5, 1st Peter 5:7). Therefore, beware of devil’s traps.

Open Heavens 17 October 2018 Prayer point: Father, preserve me from ever falling into the trap of false opportunities, in Jesus name.

3. Through none go with me, still I

4. My cross 1’ll carry, till I see Jesus;

5. Will you decide now to follow

Will you decide now to follow

Will you decide now to follow
