DCLM Daily Manna 13 August 2018 Monday Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

Topic: Obedience Brings Blessings

TEXT: NUMBERS 15:30-41

KEY VERSE: “That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God” (Numbers 15:40).

MESSAGE: God’s untiring efforts to let people know His Word and ways, and walk therein are for their benefit. For instance, had King Zedekiah heeded Jeremiah’s counsel, the destruction of Jerusalem would have been averted. His failure not only brought about the destruction of Jerusalem but his children were also killed before him; his two eyes were plucked out and he was carried bound with fetters to Babylon where he died.

DCLM Daily Manna 13 August 2018 Monday Devotional

God warns against presumptuous sin – a deliberate, defiant sin which is an affront to God’s authority over man, and therefore carries capital punishment of death. God commanded Moses to instruct the Israelites to make fringes in the borders of their garments, as a reminder of their obligation to keep all His commandments. Similarly today, all believers are expected not to “live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:15).DCLM Daily Manna 13 August 2018 Monday Devotional

Knowing the truth of God’s word and obeying them sets a man free – sinners are saved, and believers are preserved in true righteousness. Christians are no longer required to put fringes on the borders of their garments. But the demand to remember and obey every word of God still subsists. A sustained and fruitful fellowship with God can only be guaranteed when His people continue in His Word – in total obedience and holy living. As we read, study and meditate on the word of God daily, He will give us strength to obey it. DCLM Daily Manna 13 August 2018 Monday Devotional

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is gain in obedience.

DCLM Daily Manna 18 October 2018 Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

Topic: Consider The Consequence

Text: Judges 21:1-15

Key Verse: “Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife” (Judges 21:1).

DCLM Daily Manna 18 October 2018 Message: The need to pause and evaluate issues critically before taking decisions cannot be overemphasised. It has been said that today’s decision is tomorrow’s reality. Every decision we take will, by extension, have implications on the lives of many others, even generations yet unborn.
Israel, in her presumed zeal for God, twice took decisions in anger which they ended up regretting. Their rash decisions resulted in the destruction of lives which they could not restore. In fact, they had to also kill the men of Jabesh Gilead in their attempt to get wives for the Benjamites which still couldn’t solve the problem. It is important to note that God warns against anger or associating with an angry or furious man (Ephesians 4:31; Proverbs 22:24).

Decisions taken in anger or reacting angrily to issues is a reflection of the foolishness in man because “He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly…” (Proverbs 14:17). Rash decisions often result in regrets. It compounds man’s problem and aggravates error and disaster.

DCLM Daily Manna 18 October 2018 Devotional – Consider The Consequence

It is wrong for anyone to take another person’s life under the excuse of being zealous for God. There can be no element of divinity in any spurious swallowing up of humanity. Therefore, subsume your temper to the control of the Almighty. To avoid fatal errors and regrets, approach God in prayers before taking decisions. “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established”

Thought for the Day: Think before you act; don’t act before you think.

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 17 October 2018 – The Escape Route by Pastor Kumuyi

TOPIC: The Escape Route

TEXT: Matthew 11:20-30

KEY VERSE: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mathew 11:28).

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 17 October 2018 MESSAGE: Practical experiences during childhood reveals that, it isn’t all the threats or lies aimed at creating fear in the child that are real. Most times, an inquisitive child soon discovers that nothing like the foretold consequences happens. This often emboldens him/her to flout other instructions believing that there would be no serious adverse consequence after all.

This same scenario, no doubt, plays itself out in the attitude of most people concerning the stern warning of Christ to the religious, carefree and impenitent of the dire consequences of their sinful lifestyle. We need to understand that God is not a man. His words will ever be true and He has appointed a day for judgment of evil men and women. Many justify their rebellion against God on the grounds that many church leaders and religious people commit sin without any consequence.

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 17 October 2018 – The Escape Route by Pastor Kumuyi
The Scripture describes the unfortunate condition thus: “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil” (Ecclesiastes 8:11). It should, however, be noted that no sinner will go unpunished, because on the judgment day, God will not be swayed by money, emotion or any other factor.

The sure way of escape is repentance and faith in Christ as revealed through the solemn invitation in our text. Those who reject the invitation of Christ to repentance today will one day face the sordid reality of judgment in hell. Be wise to repent by acknowledging, confessing and forsaking your sins so that heaven can rejoice over you too. Pray for pardon.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The wheel of God’s judgment may drive slowly, but it is imminent.

DCLM Daily Manna 16 October 2018 Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

TOPIC: He Is Ever Faithful

TEXT: PSALMS 89:30-46

KEY VERSE: “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips”
(PSALMS 89:34).

MESSAGE: The story was told of an exhausted wayfarer who ran out of water in a desert. He later got to a well and in his desperation pumped with the strength remaining in him with the aim of getting water but to no avail. About to give up, he saw a jug of water with an inscription on the side directing him to pour the water into the machine for priming before pumping to get water. In this desperate situation, he was afraid of taking the risk of pouring the water into the pump and not getting needed result. However, he summoned up courage, poured the water into the pump and started pumping. He got water surging out of the well which he used to refresh himself, stored up for his journey and filled back the jug as he was instructed.

DCLM Daily Manna 16 October 2018 Devotional – He Is Ever Faithful

The house of David had a divine bouquet of promises wrapped in God’s faithfulness and love. He promised pardon since God knew that sin could block their access to His promises. God’s promises are true, universal and made out of a heart of love. However, the enjoyment of His divine benevolence is always predicated on readiness to fulfil certain conditions.

As it was with the desert traveller, drawing from God’s well of love and mercy, so is it for everyone who approaches the throne of grace with faith and trust. Your destination depends on the route you choose. To benefit from God’s unbroken promises and put an end to grumbling, complaints and lamentations, decide to turn away from sin and receive Christ as your personal Saviour. Then He will forever remain faithful if you consistently abide in His word.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God is ever faithful when He is approached in penitence.
